Union Island – Carriacou Cargo Vessel sank today

Union Island, The Grenadines (ONE NEWS SVG) – The MV Lady JJ, a vessel that transports goods between the southern grenadine islands of Union Island and Carriacou sank today, sources say.

Freelance Journalist, Kendel Mark posted on Facebook that “It’s sad to learn that the MV Lady JJ which travels between Carriacou and Union Island carrying cargo sank while on its way back to Union Island this evening……..thankfully no lives were lost”.

One News SVG contacted the Journalist and other sources who confirmed the incident.

The circumstances surrounding the sinking of the vessel are not yet clear.

The loss of the vessel, captained by Troy Gellizeau is expected to negatively affect trade in goods in the southern grenadines, sources have told One News SVG.

The vessel was Vincentian operated.
