Kingstown, St. Vincent (ONE NEWS SVG) – Finance Minister, Camillo Gonsalves stated today (October 26), that construction on the Sandals Beaches Resort will commence in April 2021.
In a Facebook post, Mr. Gonsalves stated that “serious construction begins in April and will employ 1,000 tradespersons.”
His comments came after a meeting today (October 26), with a leading Sandals executive – Adam Stewart and his Sandals Resort team, where the Sandals team presented a more detailed master plan, design, and advertising vision for the proposed resort.
The development also comes after the signing of an agreement with the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines for the establishment of a 350 rooms Beaches Resort brand at Buccament on July 22nd 2020 (see story here).
Mr. Gonsalves also stated that “Sandals is targeting December 2022 for the opening of the resort, at which time it will directly employ 800 Vincentians at the outset.”
The Finance Minister further stated that “The name “St. Vincent and the Grenadines” will have 6-8 billion media impressions in 2022-23 (print, tv, online) thanks to the Sandals advertising machine.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines will mark the eight island in the Caribbean with a Sandals-branded resort.
