Kingstown, St. Vincent (ONE NEWS SVG) – As of today (January 13), some 18 persons have been admitted to the Argyle Isolation Facility, while another four persons have been admitted to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.
Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Simone Keizer Beache said at a press conference today that some of the ill persons have pre-existing conditions, and that increases the likelihood of complications.
She said there are two persons who have COVID-19-related pneumonias and one person has a stroke.
In terms of the persons at the Argyle Isolation facility, only a few of those persons are ill in terms of serious symptoms of COVID. The other persons are there because it was determined that they did not have adequate home isolation facilities.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines confirmed 31 new COVID-19 cases, all of whom are nationals with no history of recent travel.
There are now 155 local cases under investigation. One hundred and six persons have recovered and 178 remain active. A total of 284 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
