A total of 354.1 million dollars is being allocated to compensate public sector workers in St. Vincent and the Grenadines for the 2022 fiscal year.
According to Finance Minister Camillo Gonsalves, while presenting the Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure for 2022, salaries amount to $287.9 million dollars, while wages amount to 26. 6 million dollars.
Allowances are estimated at 25.1 million dollars, while NIS contributions for public sector workers is estimated at 14.5 million dollars.
The 2022 budget for Wages and Salaries is 2.0 percent higher than the amount estimated for the Wage Bill in 2021.
The main reasons for this is increases in increments and the additional allowances that go with a number of the new positions.
