History was made today in St. Vincent and the Grenadines as the country celebrated its first vaccinated/hybrid Nine Mornings festivities.
Nine Mornings, a festival unique to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, is celebrated nine mornings before Christmas morning on December 25 each year. The celebrations feature concerts and other events that begin at 4:00 a.m.
The festival has been celebrated in St. Vincent and the Grenadines for more than 100 years.
But, this year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the festivities are being celebrated in the Victoria Park, an enclosed venue, and patrons must be fully vaccinated in order to physically attend the event. The event is also being streamed LIVE via VC3 television.
This year’s edition of the National Lotteries Authority’s Nine Mornings Festival runs from Thursday 16th to the 24th of December.
Vincentians and visitors are invited to celebrate this unique Vincentian festival which will take the form of a Hybrid Virtual/vaccinated event. Patrons having a QR Code allows for easier access.
The festival which will be held at 4:00 am daily will highlight the Christmas spirit in St Vincent and the Grenadines under the theme “A Festival of Lights; Hope in a Darkened World”, with music, fun and games, sports and the introduction of new competitions like Best Lit Bicycle, Best Face Mask, Best Christmas Outfit, Best Decorated Push Cart and, Bring Yo Song and Come.
As part of the nine morning festivities, there will also be Community Christmas Lighting Up and Best Lit Private House Competition, which will be held under the sub-theme “Ah String Ah Lights”.
