The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College (SVGCC) has won the 2022 Windward Islands Debating Competition (WIDC).
The SVGCC, successfully defended its title against Dominica State College in Friday’s final (April 29), where it acted as the proposition for the topic “Countries have a right to impose vaccine mandates to protect the health of their populations.”
The SVGCC was represented by Marika Baptiste and Niesha Richards in Friday’s final, which was held virtually.
The SVGCC advanced to the finals on Thursday after they defeated 2022 host the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College of St. Lucia in preliminary two, in a 580 to 550 victory.
The full SVGCC team comprised of Junior Primus and Shadyn McLean, Marika Baptiste and Niesha Richards.

- Best Speaker Preliminary 2: Junior Primus
- Best Speaker Finals: Niesha Richards
- Best Speaker Overall: Niesha Richards

- 2022 Windward Islands Debating Competition Champion
This year’s WIDC was streamed via the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College’s YouTube channel and the SVGCC’s Facebook page. The institution’s participation was possible through assistance from its corporate partners Gaymes Book Centre, Courts St. Vincent Ltd, Beachcombers Hotel and The Cell Ltd.
