The Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines will sign two Memoranda of Understanding – MOU with the Government of India on Thursday.
According to the Agency for Public Information – API, the first memorandum of understanding between both countries will be on automatic exchange of information and assistance in collection of taxes. The other MOU will be on Health and Medicine.
The two MOUs will be signed at a signing ceremony at Government House.
The move comes as President of the Republic of India His Excellency Shri Ram Nath Kovind is in Saint Vincent on an official State visit.
Mr. Kovind, on his arrival on Wednesday was met by Prime Minster Dr the Honourable Ralph Gonsalves who introduced him to Members of Cabinet, Parliament and the Diplomatic Corps.
The President’s visit includes a catamaran tour to Wallilabou Bay, the sight where the movie pirates of the Caribbean was shot, the Agency for Public Information said in a release.
“His Excellency’s visit to this country presents an opportunity for the deepening of diplomatic ties between Indian and St. Vincent and the Grenadines,” the API said.
On Thursday, Mr. Kovind will also visit the Botanical Gardens for a tree-planting ceremony and cultural performances featuring a mixture of Vincentian and Indian cultures.
He will then attend a special sitting of Parliament at the House of Assembly where he will deliver a speech.
Later on Thursday, he will visit the South Windward community of Calder where many persons of East Indian heritage live. A road there called “Calder Road” will be renamed “Indian Drive”.
