People who slaughter animals for public consumption here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines must contact the Public Health Department before doing so.
Speaking to the State-owned NBC Radio, District Environmental Health Officer in the Public Health Department – Mr. Ralph Williams says this is to facilitate the inspection of the meat to ensure it is good for consumption.
Butchers and persons slaughtering animals for public consumption must also ensure they are medically fit.
They are being “encouraged” to have a Food Handler’s Certificate, Mr. Williams said.
