The duty-free concession on Christmas barrels which were to end on December 31 have been extended to January 15.
The government made the announcement in a memo circulated on December 28 after the Cabinet approved the extension.
The Department of Customs and Excise also confirmed this over telephone when One News SVG contacted them yesterday (December 29).
This means that persons sending grocery and household items in barrels can ensure they arrive here in St. Vincent on or before January 15 if they wish to qualify for the duty-free concessions at customs.
The annual duty-free concessions began in November this year.
