Vincentian among 2 dead in Anguilla boat tragedy

A Vincentian is among two persons who died in a boating incident in Anguilla today (March 11), officials in Anguilla have confirmed.

Anguilla police have not confirmed the names of the deceased. The police told One News SVG, via telephone, that an investigation has been launched into the matter and that we should “check social media for any updates.”

But other reliable sources in Anguilla have confirmed that one of the deceased persons is Tamika Thomas, a Vincentian who was residing in Anguilla.

The identity of the other deceased was not confirmed at press time.

According to the Anguilla Department of Disaster Management, at approximately 10:00 this morning Emergency Services responded to an incident in West End involving a boat.

“Following the incident it has now been confirmed that 6 persons were involved. Two (2) persons are deceased. Four (4) persons received treatment at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and have now been discharged,” the department said.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those affected. We take this opportunity to express our sincere condolences to the friends and family of the deceased,” the department said.
