Presidential candidate in the upcoming Executive Council election of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation – SVGFF, Mr. Renson Haynes has proposed doubling all prize monies for SVGFF tournaments.
Haynes who was a national footballer and who played professional football in the USA said in a January 17 video release:
“For the next National Club Championships, we are going to increase the prize money,” he said adding that it will happen once he is elected as SVGFF president.
“In the past, there have been prize monies of $25,000 for the winning team for the premiership. That will be doubled to $50,000,” the former national footballer said.
“Also, for the First Division, or any lower division, it was about $10,000-$12,000. The will be doubled. For the females, for the youths in these championships, that will be doubled,” Mr. Haynes said.
Also, I know the officials, they are some of the least paid in the entire Caribbean. That will be considered for increase,” he added.
He said: “There are many ways with the right connection with sponsors, partners, stakeholders, the regeneration of funds and even through additional proposals to FIFA for projects, that I would guarantee that the Clubs, Leagues, Officials, Coaches, Players, etc. would see THE CHANGES & IMPLEMENTATIONS of many things for the betterment of all affiliated to this wonderful game of Football here in SVG”.
Mr. Haynes is one of five contenders nominated to vie for the SVGFF presidency. The other nominees are incumbent – Mr. Carl Dickson, Mr. Marvin Fraser, Mr. Otashie Spring, and Mr. Wayne Grant.
There are also several nominees for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Vice Presidents as well as Committee Members.
The SVGFF Executive Council elections are set for Saturday, January 27th, 2024.
Football clubs, affiliates, and leagues across the country will vote to choose a new president.
