The United Progressive Party (UPP) says it has made “a Triumphant Return to St Vincent and the Grenadines, Promising Transformational Changes”.

“After a backing-out of the 2020 General Elections, The United Progressive Party (UPP) has emerged once again on the political stage in St Vincent and the Grenadines, igniting hope and anticipation among citizens for a brighter future. With a robust agenda centered on job creation, improved healthcare, and a slew of other progressive initiatives, the party aims to steer the nation towards unprecedented prosperity,” the UPP said in an April 24 press release.

The 4 Year Old Political Party said it is also scheduled to host a political rally in the upcoming months.

“The re-emergence of the UPP comes at a critical juncture for the Caribbean nation, as it grapples with various socio-economic challenges exacerbated by the global pandemic. Against this backdrop, the party’s revival signals a renewed commitment to address the pressing needs of the people and propel St Vincent and the Grenadines towards sustainable development,” the party said.

The party said that at the forefront of its agenda is a comprehensive plan for job creation, recognizing the pivotal role employment plays in fostering economic stability and social cohesion. With an emphasis on fostering entrepreneurship, attracting investment, and promoting skills development, the party aims to generate a plethora of opportunities across diverse sectors, ensuring that no citizen is left behind in the quest for prosperity.

“Moreover, the UPP has outlined ambitious proposals to overhaul the healthcare system, recognizing the importance of accessible and high-quality medical services for all citizens. Through strategic investments in healthcare infrastructure, bolstering healthcare professionals’ capacity, and implementing innovative healthcare delivery models, the party seeks to ensure that every Vincentian receives the care they deserve, irrespective of their socio-economic status,” the UPP said.

“In addition to these key pillars, the UPP’s platform encompasses a wide array of initiatives aimed at enhancing education, infrastructure development, environmental sustainability, and social welfare. From revamping the education system to investing in renewable energy and improving social safety nets, the party’s vision encompasses a holistic approach to nation-building, grounded in inclusivity and progress,” the UPP said.

The party said in the press release:

Speaking on the party’s revival and vision for the future, the Deputy Political Leader leader of the UPP, Donroy Paul, expressed unwavering determination to bring about transformative changes that would uplift the lives of all Vincentians. “Our return marks the beginning of a new era of hope and opportunity for St Vincent and the Grenadines,” the Deputy Political Leader declared. “With a steadfast commitment to the principles of progressivism and social justice, we are poised to lead our nation towards a future defined by prosperity, equality, and dignity for all.”

“As the UPP gears up for the upcoming elections, the party’s resurgence has injected a newfound sense of optimism and enthusiasm into the political landscape of St Vincent and the Grenadines. With its bold vision and concrete plans for reform, the party stands ready to chart a course towards a brighter tomorrow, where the aspirations of every citizen are realized, and the nation flourishes on the foundation of progress and inclusivity,” the UPP said.

Currently, the two main political parties in SVG are the ruling Unity Labour Party (ULP) and the main opposition New Democratic Party (NDP). The SVG Green Party also competed several previous elections.
