Official police report on April 24 Murray’s Village and Redemption Sharpes incidents

The Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) said it is currently investigating a homicide that occurred in Murrays Village on the evening of April 24, 2024, at approximately 5:40 PM.

In an April 25 press release, the RSVGPF said: “The deceased has been identified as Zenroy Lee, also known as “Chucky,” a 31-year-old vendor from Murrays Village. Preliminary reports indicate that while Mr. Lee was in the company of another individual, a gunman arrived on the scene and shot Mr. Lee”.

“Upon arrival, police officers quickly secured the area. Specialized crime scene personnel were then deployed to process the scene and collect vital evidence. The District Medical Officer was summoned,” police said.

“The investigation is ongoing, and we are diligently working to gather all relevant facts and to identify the perpetrator(s)responsible for this tragic incident. We urge anyone with information to contact Police Emergency at 999/911, the Criminal Investigations Department at 784-456-1810 or any Police Station. All information received will be treated with the highest level of confidentiality,” police said.

The Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) also reported on an incident that occurred on the evening of April 24, 2024, involving officers and an armed suspect in the Redemption Sharpes area.

In the press release, the RSVGPF said: “At approximately 8:50 PM, officers were conducting routine patrol in the area when they received credible intelligence regarding the whereabouts of a suspect linked to a previous violent crime. The suspect, identified as Romano Pompey, 35, of Redemption Sharpes, also known as ‘Merciless,’ was wanted in connection to a shooting incident that occurred earlier that day”.

“Upon encountering the police, Mr. Pompey pointed a firearm at the police, posing an immediate threat to the officers. As a result, Mr. Pompey was fatally wounded at the scene. A Glock 23 pistol and thirteen rounds of ammunition were recovered from the deceased. No police officers were injured during the encounter,” police said.

“This incident is under investigation by the appropriate authorities to ensure all actions taken were in accordance with law enforcement standards. The Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force is committed to transparency and will continue to provide updates as further details from the ongoing investigation become available,” police said.

The RSVGPF said it extends its deepest condolences to all those who are affected by this incident.
