It is no secret that Canouan is one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean, with its allure revolving around its nature, culture, and people.
Canouan’s development vision is a collective one that involves all stakeholders working towards shaping the destination’s future through globally renowned luxury hospitality while protecting and enhancing all the elements that make Canouan special.
The recent One Fest Canouan weekend was a testament to that vision. Started as a collaboration with multiple local partners from Canouan, Bequia, Union, and Saint Vincent – and hosted on Canouan Island, the intention has been to showcase the local culture and creativity of SVG. Musicians, artists, artisans, crafters, and many other creatives came together in the community and spent a weekend full of fun, all while showcasing the beauty of the island. Local businesses, including Airbnb’s, benefitted from the otherwise quiet time of the year, and we all enjoyed a story created by the community members.
The vision is all about the island and the future. We strive for creating more moments worth celebrating. Aside from One Fest Canouan, a community-driven festival, we are proud of the internship opportunities we create for the youth attending the local secondary school built by the development company. Additionally, the monthly beach clean-ups we hold on Grand Bay, celebrated with pizzas and drinks with community members, the health fairs organized by our hotel partners in the village, and the spaying and neutering efforts we facilitate on the island are a part of those moments. Of course, we must not forget the student retreats and mentorship programs held by the Island’s hospitality operators. These are just a few of the initiatives we have chosen to keep quiet about.
Aside from the social, cultural, and environmental value that the Canouan vision generates, the economic impact is also important for a sustainable future. The group of companies of the developer employs over 700 employees, with numbers increasing year over year as the tourism identity develops and strengthens its position in the global luxury travel market.
We are dedicated to further developing Canouan Island as a prominent tourism destination and a valuable asset for SVG with the support of all stakeholders. This commitment will help create employment opportunities within the community and provide exceptional hospitality experiences for travelers, potential investors, and homeowners.
As we attract more visitors, investors, and homeowners to our shores, we will not only enhance Canouan for travelers but also make it a wonderful place for all who call it home.
