Delroy ‘Fireman’ Hooper continued to demonstrate his musical prowess by winning the 2024 Soca Monarch title.
In a show held last night (July 6) at Victoria Park, Hooper defended his crown, one he has now held for 13 times.
Despite mixed feelings among the population regarding the hosting of the remaining events for Vincymas 2024 in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) went ahead with the remainder of its national carnival.

One News SVG understands that thousands of people attended the 2024 Soca Monarch and Ragga Soca Monarch show despite controversy surrounding the hosting of Carnival as thousands of people, especially in the Southern Grenadines, have been displaced by Hurricane Beryl.
Hooper was able to move the crowd like no other performer leaving Magikal in second place, and KTB and Vyper in third place.
Hooper is expected to walk away with $60,000 in cash as the Carnival Development Corporation announced an increase in the prize monies paid to the winners of 2024 competitions.

In the Ragga Soca category, Hance John prevented 2023 Ragga Soca Monarch first-timer Jay R from defending his crown.
In second position was Bongo Prime while JayR and DXTP took the third position.
