The Ministry of Education and National Reconciliation said today (September 9) students of the Union Island Secondary School attending classes on the mainland will report as planned to the Arnos Vale Campus for school on Tuesday 10 September 2024.
The Ministry said, however, there will be a slight delay for students of the Mary Hutchinson Primary School and Stephanie Browne Primary School attending classes on the mainland due to heavy rainfall affecting the readiness of the Arnos Vale site.
Students from these two primary institutions will now tentatively resume classes at the Arnos Vale location on Thursday 12 September 2024. The Ministry of Education apologizes for any inconvenience this delay may cause.

All students attending school in Union Island will resume as planned on Wednesday 11 September 2024, the Ministry said.
Hurricane Beryl damaged or destroyed more than 90 percent of houses in Union Island in the Southern Grenadines on July 1, leading to the temporary relocation of residents to mainland, St. Vincent.
The government, through consultations with parents and other stakeholders prepared a temporary space on mainland, St. Vincent to house the two primary schools and the Union Island secondary school until recovery work on Union Island reaches a stage that will allow people to lead normal lives there.
The majority of students have been registered to attend school on the mainland.
The Agency for Public Information (API) announced recently that approximately 310 of 450 students from Union Island will attend school at the temporary location that once housed a medical university.
Some parents, however, have opted to have their children attend school on Union Island amidst the current conditions.
