20-year-old pleads guilty to stealing from 89-year-old from Chauncey

Police say that on November 10, 2024, they arrested and charged Sibran Allen, a 20-year-old Labourer of Chauncey, with multiple counts of Theft involving both property and cash belonging to an 89-year-old Retired Tailor, also of Chauncey.

In a November 11 press release, the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) said: “Between June 10 and June 15, 2024, a series of thefts were reported across multiple locations. The first offence occurred on June 10, 2024, in Chauncey, where a Bank of SVG ATM card valued at $15.00 ECC was stolen”.

“On June 11, 2024, $400.00 ECC in cash was reported stolen from a business place, in Kingstown, followed later that day by the theft of $600.00 ECC in cash in Mesopotamia. The following morning, on June 12, 2024, a second Bank of SVG ATM card, valued at $15.00 ECC, was stolen in Chauncey around 7:00 AM.,” the release stated.

“Additionally, two separate thefts involving $1,000.00 ECC in cash were reported on the same day; one occurring on Halifax Street, Kingstown, and the other at Reigate, Kingstown. On June 13, 2024, another theft of $2,000.00 ECC in cash took place at a business place in Kingstown. Finally, two additional thefts, each involving $2,000.00 ECC in cash, occurred in Layou on June 14 and June 15, 2024,” the police report stated.

The combined total value of the stolen items and cash is $9,015.00 ECC., police said.

“Allen appeared before the Serious Offences Court on Monday 11, 2024, where he pleaded guilty to the charges. He was remanded into custody and the matter was adjourned to November 13, 2024, for sentencing,” police said in the press release.
