Eighteen young women from underserved communities, including Ottley Hall, Sharpes, and Edinboro, Green Hall, came together on Thursday, August 7th, 2025, for the Her Path to Brilliance Empowerment Seminar, a one-day event designed to empower, educate, and equip them with the skills, confidence, and vision to pursue their goals.

Organised by Mrs Sherika John, owner of LaSheré Lifestyle, an all-natural skincare brand helping melanated women restore their confidence, the seminar featured presentations on business development, mental health and mindset, vision board creation, skills building, and exploring opportunities beyond borders.

This is the second time Mrs John has hosted this event, and Part Two is already scheduled to take place at the end of August.

Presenters included the Centre for Enterprise Development, Ranique John (My Crown of Curls), Dr Ellica Matthews (Psychologist), Adriel Francis, 2024–2025 Chevening Scholar, and Kathy Edward, Job Development Officer at Adult and Continuing Education.

In a special announcement, the St Vincent Building and Loan Association revealed they will award $500 and a startup kit to one participant with a promising business idea. The winner will be announced on Wednesday, August 13th.

The seminar also marked the launch of the Big Sister Mentorship Programme, a ministry initiative by Mrs John to provide ongoing support and guidance for young women.

This event was made possible through the generous support of sponsors: St Vincent Building and Loan Association, Coreas Pharmacy, Moonshine, Grenadines House, St Clair Stapleton from Masa, FitnBless, and SVG Mission of Seventh-day Adventists.

Mrs John described the event as “the planting of seeds that will grow into strong, confident women who will impact their communities and beyond.”
