Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation and Sustainable Development Dr. Kishore Shallow has unveiled a coordinated strategy to strengthen Saint Vincent and the Grenadines’ tourism sector, announcing two major campaigns designed to drive activity during the traditional off‑season.

Speaking on NBC Radio’s Face to Face programme this week, Shallow emphasized that the future of the industry depends on synchronization and long term planning rather than fragmented initiatives. “Everything has to be in sync,” he said, emphasizing the need for a year round approach to tourism development.

Surprise mom with something from Courts.

The first initiative, the “Love St. Vincent and the Grenadines (Love SVG)” campaign, is scheduled to roll out in early May. Targeting the slower months between May and October, the programme will mobilize national participation in tourism enhancement. The government has identified 100 projects aimed at upgrading infrastructure and improving the destination product, with plans to showcase these developments to international audiences in real time. By the start of the next peak season in November, Dr Shallow expects the cumulative impact to elevate the country’s standing as a tourism destination.

Complementing this effort is the “Go Grenadines” campaign, which will stimulate domestic and regional tourism during the summer, particularly in August. The programme will encourage Vincentians to explore the Grenadines an area many locals seldom visit through incentives offered in partnership with hotels, ferry operators, and restaurants. Coordinated promotions and events are expected to make travel more accessible and appealing.

Dr Shallow explained that the dual campaigns are designed to reduce the seasonality of tourism while fostering national pride and ownership of the industry. “We want people to learn about and appreciate what belongs to us,” he said, noting that domestic tourism is central to building resilience and sustainability. By aligning Love SVG with Go Grenadines, the Ministry aims to create a seamless tourism experience that blends local engagement with economic opportunity.
