Vincentian stage production “Number Seven” is set to make its Off-Broadway debut in New York City on October 24, 2026, during St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ 47th Independence celebrations.

Written and directed by playwright and theatre practitioner Kevin Roderiques and produced by Ask Enterprise Limited, Number Seven is a crime drama centred on the murder of a prominent lawyer, Douglas Hamilton. The story follows police detectives as they investigate multiple suspects in a case involving blackmail, jealousy, fear and betrayal.

The production will first be staged locally on May 30 and 31, 2026, at the Peace Memorial Hall in Kingstown, with performances beginning at 7:00 p.m. each night, before travelling to New York for its Off-Broadway presentation in October.

Proceeds from the Kingstown performances will support travel and production costs for the Off-Broadway cast, as well as a youth mentorship programme targeting boys aged 8 to 12.
The free after-school programme will use theatre-based activities to build discipline, confidence, and creativity among participants.

Roderiques said the initiative is intended to inspire young people to pursue their ambitions regardless of circumstance.

“To the young boy in SVG who has a dream too big for this island: stay with it. Feed it. Fight for it. One day, it will carry you farther than you ever imagined. This is proof,” he said.

Roderiques said the production reflects years of dedication to local theatre. “For thirty years, I have poured my heart onto stages across this nation. Every late night, every empty house, every standing ovation led here. ‘Number Seven’ is my gift to the people who believed in Vincentian theatre when belief was hard to find,” he said.

He added that the upcoming Off-Broadway staging carries wider significance for the cast and country.
“When our 12 cast members take that Off-Broadway stage, they carry with them the voices of every Vincentian who ever dreamed of something bigger. This is not my moment. It is our moment,” he said.

Tickets for the local production are available via telephone at 784-526-5454, through the production’s social media page, or at the Peace Memorial Hall box office.

The production was first staged in 2016 by the Agape Methodist Dramatists at Russell’s Auditorium in Stoney Ground.

Kevin Roderiques is a Vincentian playwright, director, actor, and theatre practitioner with over two decades of experience in the performing arts.
