Chanique Bailey has been crowned St Vincent and the Grenadines’ National Calypso Monarch 2026, emerging victorious after a highly competitive finals held at Independence Park on Sunday night as part of Vincy Mas 2026.
The official results, announced in the early hours of Monday, placed Robert “Patches” Knights second, Shaunelle McKenzie third and Lornette “Fya Empress” Nedd fourth.
Bailey secured the coveted national title after qualifying for the finals from the Calypso Semi-Finals, where she advanced with her rendition, “Lift Me Up”, representing the Dynamites calypso tent.
The Carnival Development Corporation (CDC) had selected 11 finalists to compete for the 2026 crown following the semi-finals. The finalists were Cecile “Lil Bit” King, Chanique Bailey, Grantley “Ipa” Constance, Kemmy Christopher, Kenley “Lyrical Melody” Baptiste, Kenneth “Vibrating Scakes” Alleyne, Lornette “Fya Empress” Nedd, Robert “Patches” Knights, Shaunelle McKenzie, Shena Collis and Utamo “Bongo Prime” Rose.
Bailey succeeds Raeon “Madzart” Primus, who captured the National Calypso Monarch title in 2025.
The National Calypso Monarch competition remains one of the premier events of Vincy Mas, showcasing the country’s finest calypsonians through performances that blend social commentary, storytelling and entertainment.
