St Vincent and the Grenadines opened its campaign at the 2026 Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) Senior Men’s Championship with a 3–1 victory over Grenada in Tortola, British Virgin Islands, on Wednesday.
SVG took the first set 25–21 before extending its lead by winning the second set 25–23. Grenada fought back in the third set, edging SVG 25–23, but SVG regained control in the fourth set, winning 25–18 to secure the match 3–1.
The result gave SVG an opening win as the five day championship got underway at the Multi Purpose Sports Complex in Tortola.
The 2026 championship is being contested from August 12 to 16 and features senior men’s and women’s national teams from eight ECVA member federations: Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Bermuda, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines and the host British Virgin Islands.
SVG’s victory was one of four men’s matches played on the opening day. Dominica defeated Bermuda 3–1, while Anguilla overcame the host British Virgin Islands 3–2. Saint Lucia also recorded a 3–2 victory over defending champions Antigua and Barbuda.
The championship is being hosted by the Virgin Islands Volleyball Association and brings the participating national teams together for five days of competition in Tortola.
SVG will now look to build on its opening victory as the men’s championship continues through Sunday, August 16.
