Kingstown, St. Vincent (ONE NEWS SVG) – The Lazaras Foundation and the Sion Hill Lighting Committee, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and other donors, are hosting a cultural evening dubbed “A taste of Africa” today.
In a press release, the organizers say the event takes place at the Sion Hill Intersection and commences at 1:00 p.m.

“The activity is a family-oriented activity,” organizers say and it is being held under the theme: “Understanding our past and shaping our future”.
There will be “cultural presentations which include poetry, songs, speeches, drumming and dance” the organizers say and these presentations will commence at 5:00 p.m.
“There will be African dishes, as well as local food and drink”, organizers say.
Emancipation day in the Caribbean is celebrated on August 1st every year, it has been 186 years since the abolition of slavery.
