KINGSTOWN, St Vincent – The government has removed the forty – eight hours quarantine in an approved hotel or guest house for vaccinated persons entering the state.
Hitherto, vaccinated persons had to do a mandatory two-day quarantine at their own expense, at a hotel approved by the Ministries of Health and Tourism.
The new COVID-19 rule took effect on Saturday, October 30th, 2021, as the Covid- 19 task force revised the entry protocols for travellers.
However, health officials say entry protocols still apply except for mandatory quarantine for those who are fully vaccinated, and the traveller must be fully vaccinated two weeks before their travel.
Officials say if the traveller is not vaccinated, they will fall into three risk categories, low, medium and high, and their entrance into SVG would involve being quarantined.
Officials say that if port health authorities believe that an individual should be tested or quarantined, those measures would be applied.
Health officials have stated that even with cases and positivity rates trending downwards, it still does not put the island in a relaxed state.
The latest report from the Ministry of Health indicates that (1029) cases are currently active, and sixty-nine (69) persons with COVID-19 have died.
Health officials have also confirmed the presence of the Delta, Mu and Gamma variants on the island.
