Four Vincentians will take to the field from this Saturday to take part in the second annual Chief Secretary’s Bago T-10 cricket blast tournament.
The tournament runs from April 9th to the 15th with two games being played daily at the Cyd Grey Sports Complex in Roxborough in eastern Tobago.
Fast bowling all-rounder Ryan Williams, spinner Asif Hooper, wicketkeeper batsman Gidron Pope and batting all rounder Shaman Hooper will suit up for each of the four franchises in the tournament.
Williams will be representing the Rainforest Rangers franchise along with Trinidadian Jason Mohammed, while Pope will suit up for the Little Tobago Islanders which also has Trinidadian Mark Deyal in their line-up.
Cousins Asif and Shaman Hooper will represent the Buccoo Reef Divers and the Fort King George Gunners respectively.
The tournament will seek to showcase the talent of young Tobago cricketers with each team having one player from Trinidad and an overseas player from St Vincent and the Grenadines.
The Vincentian quartet spoke to local media where they expressed eagerness to suit up for their respective franchises, especially after the recently concluded Vincy Premier League.
Saturday’s opening round of matches will see Ryan Williams and his Rainforest Rangers squaring off against Shaman Hooper’s Fort King George Gunners from 5pm.
Two hours later Asif Hooper and his Buccoo Reef Divers will come up against Gidron Pope and his Little Tobago Islanders.
The tournament runs for six rounds with double headers each day from Saturday through Thursday, ahead of the eliminator and the final on Friday April 15th.
