Though hundreds of students and workers across the country wore orange today to protest violence against women, no demonstrations were held to protest violence against men.
In recent times, there has been an upsurge in violence against both men and women.
For men, as recent as May 18, a school principal was viciously beaten by a student at the Mountain View Adventist Academy.
Two men were gunned down at Montrose this week, and a 7-year-old male child died under mysterious circumstances, with reports of potential child neglect.
For women, there was the gruesome killing of Precious Williams, 17, whose body was found in a bag at the side of the road, and then there was also the recent killing of family court counsellor – Roberts.
While men have been committing acts of violence against both men and women. There are incidents where women too have been committing acts of violence against women and men.
In April 2022, three women who were involved in the stabbing death of a woman in her yard in September 2017 were sentenced to more than 7 years in prison.

The organizers of today’s demonstration have been praised for taking a stand against violence against women, but some have argued that the outcry needs to be against violence altogether.
