BREAKING: Fireman burns out his competitors in clean sweep of 2022 soca monarch

Delroy ‘Fireman’ Hooper has won both the 2022 Ragga Soca Monarch and the Soca Monarch competitions.

In a clean sweep, Fireman dethroned Hance John in the Ragga Soca Monarch category and Derron ‘Magikal’ Rouse in the Soca Monarch category.

Central Leeward soca sensation Keith ‘Grabba Finesse’ Charles took the second spot in National Soca Monarch competition, while Hance John took the second spot in the Ragga Soca Monarch.

Mr. Hooper won the favour of both the crowd and the judges as he outperformed eleven (11) other artistes in the Soca competition held at the Victoria Park.

He won with his song – “Bad Demon,” in the Soca category and “Social Media Police” in the Ragga Soca category.

Mr. Hooper had won both competitions in the July 5 soca monarch of 2014.

In the power soca category, Fireman won with “Unruly,” defeating 14 other contenders at the time.

On the same night in 2014, Fireman had also won the Ragga Soca competition with his hit – “Rum Meeting”.

In 2022, Delroy ‘Fireman’ Hooper was able to enchant the crowd and the judges again at the Victoria Park in Kingstown in the national competition which was held after a two-year break due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Soca Monarch competition is considered the nation’s largest musical event.

Derron ‘Magikal’ Rouse with his song “Wah Deh” was not able to defend the title he held since 2019, and he placed third in the Soca category.

In 2019, Magikal won with his song “Bloody Hell Crazy”.

As the 2022 results were announced, there was mixed reaction as fans for Grabba Finesse were evidently displeased with the results.

Unrelated to the announcement of the results were reported incidents of object throwing, which according to the hosts of the event, left at least 12 people hospitalized with head injuries.
