Senator Julian Francis, 71, has left the State and is being flown to Barbados tonight (July 24) after suffering a stroke and bleeding in the brain, officials of the Unity Labour Party have said.
News broke on Sunday night that Senator Francis was rushed to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital to seek medical attention.
Mr. Francis, a Government Senator, is also Minister of Urban Development, Energy, Airports, Seaports, Grenadines Affairs and Local Government.
He is also the General Secretary of the ruling Unity Labour Party.
News of Mr. Francis’ situation emerged when the ULP is preparing for the July 31, 2022, convention, in which important elections are to take place, including that of the position of chairman and deputy chairman.
The news also follows prime minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves’ announcement on WEFM on Sunday that unless advised otherwise, he will lead the party in the next general elections expected by 2025 and constitutionally due by March 2026.
Thank you Jesus…so happy that he is making progress. Wishing you a speedy recovery dear….
