On Monday October 3rd, 2022 about 8:10 pm Omarie Sargeant of New Montrose was arrested at New Montrose for having in his possession a Smith&Wesson 45 pistol with nine rounds of .45 ammunition, one of which was already chambered.
Sargeant was in the company of Joel Williams also of New Montrose who was also arrested for having a Glock 27 pistol and 5 rounds of .40 ammunition at the time .
Sargeant appeared in court on October 5th and was remanded in custody until October 12th at which time he was granted bail in the sum of $15000.00 with one surety .
On Thursday, November 3rd, 2022, the matter was heard at the Serious Offences by Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne and after a full trial , Sargeant was found guilty and sentenced to six years (6) for Possession of Unlicensed Firearms and fifteen months (15) for Unlicensed Ammunition. Both sentences are to run concurrently.
Sargeant was previously incarcerated in Barbados and served six (6) years for a gun related offense and was deported earlier this year to St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
