The Sandy Bay Secondary School has been thrown into mourning after the news that one of the school’s pupils died tragically on Sunday night.
Reports are that Dezy Lavia and his friends were riding their bicycles on the public road in the vicinity of Orange Hill when a motor vehicle suddenly came into contact with one of them.
Mr. Lavia, 13, one of the students, was reportedly struck by the minivan and two persons who witnessed the accident alerted authorities.
He was then rushed to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries.
A source said that many students at the Sandy Bay Secondary School are shaken up by the news.
