Six (6) persons successfully completed a course in sign language which better prepares them to minister to the deaf and the hearing impaired.
The course in Basic Sign Language which was facilitated by Ms. Cindy Roberts, a teacher of courses in the deaf and hard-of-hearing, ran for eight weeks.
The course was offered at the Baptist Bible College of the Caribbean in Prospect.
The successful students are Ms. Arlette Miller, Mr. Peter Thomas, Ms. Marcia Edwards, Mr. Agostini Solelyn, Ms. Felicia Edwards, and Mr. Gregg Francois.

The facilitator of the course – Ms. Cindy Roberts who holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education of the Deaf from Calvary Baptist College in Puerto Rico, congratulated the successful graduates who she says are now better equipped to communicate with the deaf and the hearing impaired.
She said sign language is a unique language and it will help persons to communicate with the deaf. “It makes them (the deaf) feel part of your world. Learning sign language is also important to promote inclusiveness – breaking communication barriers,” she added.
She said more persons need to learn sign language.
The award of certificates for those successful in the sign language course happened during a graduation ceremony at the Baptist Bible College for Mr. Peter Thomas who successfully completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in Bible and was awarded his degree from the academic institution.
