The Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines marked 45 years of diplomatic relations with the Republic of China (Taiwan) during an official visit by the Republic of China (Taiwan) Navy’s (R.O.C. Navy) 2026 Midshipmen Cruising and Training Squadron from April 14 to 16, 2026.

The visit provided an opportunity for both countries to highlight their longstanding partnership and shared development goals.

Activities began on Tuesday, April 14, with an opening ceremony at the Cruise Ship Terminal, where officials from both governments welcomed the visiting squadron. The ceremony underscored continued cooperation in key areas such as agriculture, information and communications technology, and education.

On Wednesday, April 15, a joint honour guard ceremony was held at the Arnos Vale Stadium, featuring members of the R.O.C. Navy and the Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force. The event formed part of the broader observance of the diplomatic milestone and reflected the strong ties between the two nations.

The visit concluded on Thursday, April 16, with a closing ceremony at the Cruise Ship Terminal.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and the Republic of China (Taiwan) established diplomatic relations on August 15, 1981. Over the years, the partnership has been marked by ongoing collaboration and support across multiple sectors.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Foreign Investment and Diaspora Affairs said it looks forward to further strengthening relations in pursuit of continued mutual progress and prosperity.
