Two children ages 9 – 14 will be awarded a full one-year scholarship to learn the violin with Heartstrings Violin Academy.
According to a press release, the scholarships are valued at EC $10,000 and will include the instruments (violins).
The scholarship disbursements are expected to happen after the hosting of the school’s upcoming musical event – HeartStrings Love Fiesta 2022.
The event will be held on Saturday 10th December 2022, and is being promoted by Toks Music and Ask Promotions.
The live concert will take place at the Russell Auditorium from 8pm, and it will showcase instruments, voices, arts, “that will tug at your heartstrings,” the organizers say.
The organizers, in a release, describe the upcoming LIVE concert as one that will be “electrifying”.
The cast includes: Students from Heart Strings Academy, Brian Maloney, Azariah Gibson, Kyyah Roderiques, Bryan Sax, Poetic Heart Dancers, The Band 𝐒𝐢𝐥𝐜 and Samuel Toka (Toks Violin), the release stated.

The Musical Director of Heart Strings 𝐿𝑜𝑣𝑒 𝐹𝑖𝑒𝑠𝑡𝑎 2022 has over fourteen (14) years of experience on the violin, Samuel Toka (Toks Violin) continues to push boundaries with his unique style of music. The Nigerian Vincentian has performed at numerous events here in Saint Vincent, and abroad for events such as weddings, corporate events, and in front of thousands on live stages. His most recent being his special presentation to the President of India on his visit to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines,
His spirit-lifting performances have been reported to fuse classical technique with popular and jazz music, creating a sound that everyone can relate to while still enjoying the unique beauty of the violin. Most of his audience refer to his performances as “he makes the violin sing”.
Samuel Toka of Toks Violin Music left medical school when he realized his real passion was for music. He went on to study music full time, with a Grade 8 certificate in violin performance from the Associated Board of The Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM).
In addition to performing, Samuel Toka of Toks Violin Music is the founder of Heartstrings Violin Academy, where he teaches others how to play the instrument, and read music using his special curriculum created from over ten years of research on the topic, experience as a performer, and relevant popular music techniques.
