The minibus HR981 that was videoed passing through a bend on two wheels on the North Union public road on January 26, 2023 is the same one that overturned tonight at Savannah Gutter.
It is not clear who was driving the vehicle tonight, but after the January 26 North Union incident, Police Constable Joyron Hull was charged with driving dangerously and his driving permit was suspended.
“On Tuesday, January 31, 2023, Constable Hull was issued with a letter signed by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Colin John notifying him that his driving permit has been suspended by virtue of the authority vested in the Commissioner of Police and Licensing Authority in accordance with the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 483, Section 51(1) of the Revised Edition of the Laws of St. Vincent and the Grenadines 2009,” a police release stated.
Tonight (March 2, 2023), the minibus – HR981 overturned in the Savannah Gutter area. It was en route to Sandy Bay.
Several students are among those injured after the minibus overturned.
Among those injured are students from the North Windward communities of Owia and Fancy. Some of them were headed home late as a result of transportation difficulties associated with the holding of a sports day event by a secondary school.
The nature of the injuries is currently unknown, but several persons were rushed to the Modern Medical Complex in Georgetown.
