Madzart Retains National Calypso Crown

Raeon ‘Madzart’ Primus has successfully defended his title, retaining the National Calypso Monarch crown in the 2025 competition.

Mr Primus outperformed eleven other competitors to win with his song “Gravy Train,” achieving a score of 418 points.

In second place was the 2023 winner, Lornette ‘Fya Empress’ Nedd, who earned 409 points with her song “Children of the drum”.

Third place was awarded to Shaunelle McKenzie for “Ghetto Mentality,” with a score of 401 points.

There was a tie for fifth place between Maxwell ‘Tajoe’ Francis, performing “Change for what!”, and Zamfir ‘Zangie’ Adams with “My Nation”.

The event was held at Victoria Park.
