GoFundMe Account For Students Injured In Union Island Explosion

Union Island, The Grenadines (ONE NEWS SVG) – A GoFundMe initiative was created today (May 23), to help raise funds for specialized care for two students injured in the May 19, Union Island gas station explosion.

The account was set up by an individual, Kathy Badenock, and two others.

It has already raised over US$1,000 of the US$172,743 goal.

On May 19, Graniquia (Zara) Alexander, aged 17 and Lindani Neverson aged 14, sustained 2nd and 3rd degree burns to most of their bodies as a result of the explosion.

The owner of the property – Freddy’s Gas Station suffered 1st degree burns.

The GoFundMe page says that the “students are in desperate need of specialized care at a burn centre, the closest one being at the University Hospital of Martinique”.

“Please give Zara and Lindani a chance of life and a future by helping to send them to the burn centre in Martinique. Thank you for your support” – the page added.
