Who is your God?

As a teenager living in St.Vincent and the Grenadines I must say how disappointed I am of the adults especially the ones who profess to be Christians. Before I state the reasons why I am disappointed let me define and remind us of who is a christian. A christian can be defined as a person who believes in Jesus Christ and follows his teachings.

Going to church does not make us a christian, knowing the bible does not make us a christian, the positions of pastor,elder or a member of the praise team etc does not make us a christian. What makes us a christian is representing and standing up for God even though the heavens fall. What makes us a christian is to live by the word of God, what makes us a christian is to love God with all our heart,soul and mind(Matthew 22:37).

What makes us a christian is to have no other God before God. What makes us a christian is to have principles that are inline with God’s words. Can I say that I am seeing this today? I disappointingly say NO. As a teenager I am looking for guidance, I am looking for thus says the Lord, I am looking for the training that God implores adults to give to children in Proverbs 22:6′ Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it’.

As a teenager, the future of S.V.G, I am looking for training that will instill in me principles that will make me a God fearing young person. But sad to say I am mostly seeing examples of lip servants and not people who are serving God with their whole heart. God says in Matthew 15:8 ‘These people honour me with their lips but their heart is far from me’.

I am seeing cowards, Christians who are afraid to call sin by its name. Christians who see their brothers, sisters and fellow citizens being victimized, blacklisted, disenfranchised, sexually abused, murdered and turn a blind eye unless of course it affects them directly or they even join with and support the perpetrators. Sad to say that these professed Christians are my parents, pastors and brothers and sisters of all faith, my neighbours, my teachers, my principals, my friends and politicians.

Doesn’t silence give consent? Have you forgotten the christian principle love? Have you forgotten what God taught us about love? 1 John 4:7-8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 1 John 4:20 if you cannot love those who you have seen how can you love God who you have not seen? As adults you need to do better for you are accountable to God and not man. Do better because you are called to bring the world out of darkness and into his marvelous light.

Stop bowing to graven images and man, stop turning a blind eye because you are afraid of losing your jobs, or your child would not get the scholarship promised, stop turning a blind eye because of bribes or what benefits you are getting or will get. What will it profit a man to gain the whole world but lose his soul? You are accountable to God and not man and you can’t serve two masters at the same time. Isn’t that what you tell me when I do wrong as a child.

Isn’t that what you say when I decide to listen to Kartel,Popcorn,Koffee,Shenseea and Spice, go parties and do things not according to God’s will. You have told me that I need to stand up like the three Hebrew boys yet you are bowing. Bowing because of greed but yet you tell me God is our provider, bowing because of fear but yet you tell me God has not given us a spirit of fear, bowing because of position but yet you tell me that God’s plan is for us to prosper,not to harm but to give hope and a future, bowing because of money yet you claim that a thousand cattle on the hills are God’s and the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness there of, bowing because of hatred but yet you tell me God says to love my enemies,bowing for scholarships and jobs but yet you tell me that God says be careful for nothing.

So where is your faith? Whom do you put your trust in? Is it chariots, horses or God. I implore you today choose today whom you may serve. Stop bowing and dare to be a Daniel, dare to stand alone, dare to have a purpose firm and dare to make it known.

God is holding you accountable parents, pastors, principals, teachers, neighbours, politicians and friends. How can you do condone wickedness and sin against God? Adults I ask you once again who is your God? Whom are you serving God or mammon? How can you expect to go against God? Stop compromising, stop bowing. Remember he whosoever loses his life for God’s sake shall gain it. What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul? Choose today whom you serve. Satan is mocking the christian community, he is having a field day because our christian community is silent , supporting or involved in ungodly activities.

I am looking for christian example, S.V.G is looking to the christian community but there is silence, a deafening silence that needs to be addressed now. Pastors preach thus says the Lord or God will hold you accountable for his flock. Stop compromising for duty free or tax free exemptions, stop compromising for favours or positions. My parents and all other parents especially those who profess to be Christians we are observing you and your actions speak louder than your words. It is not do as I say and not as I do.

I will be doing as God says and what he tells me to do. And he tells me on November 5th that whosoever I put my X for reflects if I am a christian or not. Mummy, daddy, pastor, teacher,principal, politician, neighbour and friends my christian conscience would not allow me to vote for a party that has a form of godliness but deny the power thereof. My christian conscience would not allow me vote for a party that victimizes my friends and their families because they are not voting for them or because they stand up for their rights, my christian conscience would not allow me to vote for a lip servant of God while his people suffer, my christian conscience will not allow me to compromise my Godly standards.

Will you? Politicians who is your God? If your God is the true and living God then there is no way that my friends would have been victimized by being refused a job or scholarship (even though they are qualified) because of the party their parents voted for. Are we not our brothers keeper? On November the 5th when you vote are you going to stand up for God or are you going to bow.
