Karbon Jamz awarded for big win in South Leeward carnival

Soca artiste, Karbon Jamz received his prizes on Thursday, June 9, for winning the South Leeward Carnival Soca Monarch.

According to information from the committee, the Thursday June 9th 2022, prize giving ceremony was held at the Dzia Sports Bar in Questelles and cash prizes and appearance fees were handed over to participants.

The first place winner, Karbon Jamz, received $4000 cash, a trophy and a cellular phone.

Karbon Jamz captivated members of the audience with his song – “Hard Times”.

Second place winner Chow Minister received $2000 and a trophy and 3 months data from Digicel, and third place winner, Element, received $1000, a trophy and 3 months data from Digicel.

Apparence fees were given to the 12 other artistes.

The South Leeward Carnival Committee held its street jump up on Sunday, June 5th from Questelles to the Campden Park playing field hard court where a soca monarch competition took place after.

Fifteen (15) young artistes took part in the soca monarch competition.

Several guest performers including reigning soca monarch Majikal, Kemmy, Dat-c, Caspa G , Grabba Finnesse , Mirror Dan and Royal had the massive crowd partying even as rain came intermittently.

For this year, the jump up route was shortened because of police restrictions and was beyond the control of the organizers who had applied for a longer route . Thousands of revelers turned out onto the streets and into the park for the show .

The South Leeward Carnival Committee headed by Jules Morgan says it would like to thank the main sponsor Coreas Distribution who’s the agent for Carib beer and Campari , also ECBI agents for Village Ram, Island Sipz and Ju-c, Digicel for providing the hand set for the winner and data for the top 3 performers and JamPro Entertainment for the top 3 trophies , CDC , and especially Ezzie Roberts for his assistance, other members of the committee, the RSVGPF , persons who did livestreaming of the event and all who assisted in making it a success, special thanks to the revelers for keeping the vibes alive .
